Purchase Terms
These Purchase Terms provide general information about the application, reservation, purchase, and placement process for kittens from Nord Velet Maine Coons (“Nord Velet,” “we,” “our,” or “us”).
Our goal is to make the process clear for prospective families while protecting the health and welfare of every Nord Velet kitten.
These Purchase Terms are a general website summary. Each kitten placement is also governed by the applicable written reservation confirmation, sales contract, health guarantee, and other documents provided by Nord Velet. If a signed written agreement differs from these general website terms, the signed agreement controls for that particular transaction.
1. Application and Approval
Purchasing a Nord Velet kitten begins with our kitten application and placement process.
Submitting an application does not guarantee approval, placement, or availability of a particular kitten.
Applications help us learn about the prospective home, experience with cats, household environment, expectations, and plans for caring for a Maine Coon.
Nord Velet reserves the right to approve or decline an application when determining what we believe is an appropriate placement for one of our kittens.
We may request a telephone conversation or additional information before approving a prospective home.
2. Kitten Selection and Availability
Kittens shown on our website or social media may be available, under evaluation, reserved, retained by Nord Velet, or no longer available.
Nord Velet may retain any kitten for our breeding program or other purposes before a final reservation agreement has been completed.
Expressions of interest, applications, text messages, telephone conversations, emails, or social media messages alone do not reserve a kitten.
A kitten is considered reserved only after the reservation requirements communicated by Nord Velet have been completed.
3. Purchase Price
The purchase price for each kitten will be communicated before the buyer enters into a reservation or purchase agreement.
Prices may vary based on the kitten, placement terms, breeding rights if applicable, transportation arrangements, or other circumstances.
Any pricing shown on nordvelet.com is subject to change until a particular kitten is reserved under a written agreement.
The agreed purchase price for a particular kitten will be stated in the buyer’s written reservation or purchase documentation.
4. Reservation Deposits
Nord Velet may require a deposit or reservation payment before removing a kitten from availability.
Before accepting a deposit, Nord Velet will provide the applicable reservation terms, including:
- The kitten or placement to which the payment applies
- The agreed purchase price
- The amount of the deposit
- Whether the deposit is refundable and under what conditions
- The period for which the reservation is binding
- The remaining balance
- Any additional transportation, delivery, or other agreed charges
A deposit is not considered accepted until Nord Velet has confirmed the reservation.
The specific refundability and transferability of a deposit are governed by the written terms provided for that reservation.
5. Reservation of a Particular Kitten
When a deposit applies to a specifically identified kitten, Nord Velet will remove that kitten from general availability for the period stated in the applicable reservation documentation.
The buyer is responsible for reviewing the kitten information and reservation terms before submitting payment.
A reservation may not be transferred to another person or kitten unless Nord Velet agrees to the change in writing.
6. Remaining Balance
The due date and method for payment of the remaining purchase balance will be stated in the buyer’s purchase or reservation documentation.
Unless otherwise agreed in writing, all required funds must be received and cleared before the kitten is released to the buyer, transporter, flight nanny, or other authorized person.
Nord Velet may delay placement if required payment or documentation has not been completed.
7. Payment Methods
Accepted payment methods will be communicated directly to the buyer.
Buyers should submit payment only through payment instructions provided directly by Nord Velet.
Nord Velet is not responsible for money sent to an unauthorized person, fraudulent account, imitation social media profile, or payment destination that was not provided or confirmed by Nord Velet.
If you receive payment instructions that appear unusual or inconsistent with previous communication, contact us directly before sending funds.
8. Health and Veterinary Care
The health and welfare of our kittens are important to Nord Velet.
Before placement, kittens receive care appropriate for their age and individual needs. Veterinary and health documentation provided with a particular kitten may include information regarding examinations, vaccinations, deworming, microchipping, medications, testing, or other care as applicable.
The exact veterinary services, health records, and health guarantee applicable to a particular kitten will be provided to the buyer as part of the kitten’s placement documentation.
Because veterinary schedules depend on age and individual circumstances, not every kitten will necessarily have received the same procedures on the same dates.
9. Health Guarantee
Any health guarantee provided by Nord Velet is governed by the written health guarantee or sales contract issued for the individual kitten.
The buyer is responsible for reading that document before completing the purchase.
A website description, social media post, conversation, or other informal communication does not expand or replace the written health guarantee.
The health guarantee may include requirements regarding veterinary examination, notification of a health concern, documentation from a licensed veterinarian, treatment, and other conditions that must be followed for coverage to apply.
10. Continuing Veterinary Care
After placement, the buyer assumes responsibility for providing appropriate continuing veterinary care.
This includes establishing a relationship with a licensed veterinarian and maintaining appropriate preventive care, vaccinations, parasite control, nutrition, and other care recommended for the individual cat.
If a kitten becomes ill or injured after placement, appropriate veterinary attention should not be delayed while waiting to contact Nord Velet.
Any claim under a Nord Velet health guarantee must follow the notification and documentation requirements contained in the applicable written agreement.
11. Registration
Registration documentation, when applicable, will be provided according to the terms of the individual kitten’s sales agreement.
Registration with a cat registry does not by itself grant breeding rights.
Any breeding rights, restrictions, registration status, or requirements applicable to a particular kitten will be stated in the written purchase agreement.
12. Pet and Breeding Placements
Unless otherwise specifically agreed in writing, the permitted use and registration status of a kitten are governed by the individual sales contract.
A buyer may not assume that breeding or showing rights are included solely because a kitten is registered or comes from registered parents.
Any breeding placement must be expressly approved by Nord Velet and documented in writing.
13. Spay and Neuter Requirements
Any spay or neuter requirement applicable to a kitten will be stated in the individual sales agreement.
Where a kitten is placed subject to a future spay or neuter requirement, the buyer is responsible for complying with the timeframe and documentation requirements stated in that agreement.
Where a kitten has already been altered before placement, the applicable veterinary record may be provided with the kitten’s health documentation.
14. Pickup, Delivery, and Transportation
Transportation arrangements are determined individually based on the buyer’s location, the kitten’s age and needs, weather, transportation availability, and other relevant circumstances.
Available arrangements may include personal pickup, breeder-arranged delivery, an approved flight nanny or transporter, or another arrangement agreed upon in writing.
Transportation or delivery charges are not included in the kitten’s purchase price unless expressly stated.
The buyer will be informed of any additional agreed transportation charges before those charges become due.
15. Transportation Delays
The welfare of the kitten takes priority over a scheduled delivery date.
Travel may be delayed because of severe weather, airline restrictions, transportation disruptions, illness, veterinary recommendations, or other circumstances that could affect the safety of the kitten.
A change in transportation date for the kitten’s safety does not by itself constitute cancellation of the purchase.
Nord Velet will work with the buyer to arrange an appropriate alternative when reasonably possible.
16. Homecoming Date
Estimated go-home dates are not guarantees.
A kitten will leave Nord Velet only when we believe the kitten is developmentally and medically ready for placement and applicable contractual requirements have been satisfied.
Individual kittens may require additional time before leaving.
Nord Velet may postpone a homecoming date when we reasonably believe doing so is in the kitten’s best interest.
17. Buyer Cancellation
If a buyer chooses not to complete a reservation or purchase, the treatment of any deposit or payment already made will be determined by the written terms applicable to that transaction.
Buyers should review refund and cancellation conditions before submitting a reservation payment.
A buyer’s inability to take possession of a kitten on the originally anticipated date does not automatically entitle the buyer to a refund unless the applicable written agreement provides otherwise.
18. Cancellation by Nord Velet
Nord Velet may cancel or decline to complete a placement when we reasonably believe completing the placement would not be in the best interest of the kitten, when material information provided by the buyer proves inaccurate, when contractual requirements are not completed, or when circumstances otherwise prevent the agreed placement.
The treatment of payments following cancellation by Nord Velet will be handled according to the written reservation or purchase agreement and applicable law.
19. Failure to Complete the Purchase
A reserved kitten cannot be held indefinitely.
The applicable agreement may establish deadlines for final payment, required documentation, pickup, transportation arrangements, or other responsibilities.
If a buyer fails to meet those requirements, Nord Velet may cancel the reservation as provided by the applicable written agreement.
Any refund, credit, forfeiture, or transfer of payments will be determined under the terms agreed to when the reservation was made and applicable law.
20. Changes in Kitten Appearance and Development
Maine Coon kittens continue to develop for an extended period after leaving the breeder.
Coat color, smoke contrast, coat length, eye color, ear development, muzzle development, body proportions, weight, temperament, and other characteristics can change as a kitten matures.
Photographs, videos, descriptions, estimated adult appearance, and observations about a kitten are provided in good faith but are not guarantees of future appearance, size, temperament, show results, breeding results, or other adult characteristics unless specifically guaranteed in writing.
21. Adult Size
Maine Coons are a large breed, but individual adult size cannot be guaranteed.
The size of parents, siblings, pedigrees, previous offspring, or a kitten’s early growth may provide useful information, but they cannot reliably guarantee a specific adult weight, height, or body size.
Nord Velet does not guarantee that a kitten will reach a particular adult weight or size unless expressly stated in a written agreement.
22. Temperament
Nord Velet raises kittens with attention to handling and socialization.
However, temperament continues to develop based on genetics, age, environment, household dynamics, handling, introductions to other animals, training, and life experiences.
Descriptions such as affectionate, outgoing, playful, confident, calm, or similar terms reflect our observations of the kitten at that time and are not guarantees of future behavior.
23. Introduction to the New Home
The buyer is responsible for providing an appropriate transition when bringing a kitten into a new home.
A new kitten may need time to adjust to unfamiliar people, animals, sounds, smells, food, litter, and surroundings.
We encourage buyers to follow Nord Velet’s homecoming and transition guidance and to introduce existing pets gradually.
24. Nutrition and Care
Buyers will receive information regarding the kitten’s current food and routine when appropriate.
Sudden dietary changes can cause digestive upset. Buyers are encouraged to transition foods gradually unless a veterinarian recommends otherwise.
The buyer assumes responsibility for the kitten’s routine care after possession transfers.
25. Rehoming and Transfer
Nord Velet cares about the long-term placement of our cats.
Any contractual requirements concerning rehoming, sale, surrender, transfer, or change of ownership are governed by the individual kitten’s sales agreement.
Buyers should contact Nord Velet if circumstances arise that may prevent them from continuing to care for their cat.
26. Buyer Information
The buyer is responsible for providing accurate contact, household, veterinary, and other requested information during the application and purchase process.
Materially false or misleading information may affect an application or placement and may result in cancellation where permitted by the applicable agreement and law.
27. Fraud Prevention
Nord Velet communicates through our official website and established contact methods.
Prospective buyers should be cautious of individuals copying our photographs, kitten descriptions, branding, or social media content.
Before sending money, buyers should verify that they are communicating directly with Nord Velet.
Nord Velet is not responsible for transactions with an impersonator or unrelated third party.
28. No Resale or Broker Purchase
Unless Nord Velet specifically agrees otherwise in writing, kittens are placed directly with their intended homes and are not sold for resale, brokerage, pet-store inventory, auction, or similar commercial redistribution.
29. Separate Written Agreement Controls
These Purchase Terms are intended to explain Nord Velet’s general purchasing process.
The final terms of an individual kitten placement are contained in the applicable written agreements between Nord Velet and the buyer.
Those documents may include:
- Reservation confirmation or deposit receipt
- Sales contract
- Health guarantee
- Veterinary and vaccination records
- Spay or neuter agreement
- Registration terms
- Transportation agreement or instructions
- Food transition and homecoming information
- Microchip documentation
- Other kitten-specific records
If there is a conflict between this website page and a signed written agreement, the signed agreement controls with respect to that kitten and transaction, subject to applicable law.
30. Privacy
Personal information submitted during the application and purchase process is handled according to the Nord Velet Privacy Policy.
31. Changes to These Purchase Terms
Nord Velet may update these Purchase Terms as our placement process, services, or legal requirements change.
Changes will apply prospectively unless otherwise permitted by applicable law.
The terms applicable to an existing reservation or completed purchase will be determined by the written agreement associated with that transaction.
32. Governing Law
These Purchase Terms are governed by the laws of the State of Ohio, except where applicable law requires otherwise.
Nothing in these Purchase Terms is intended to waive rights that cannot legally be waived.
33. Contact Nord Velet
Questions regarding the purchase process, reservations, payments, transportation, or these Purchase Terms may be submitted through the contact methods provided on nordvelet.com.
